Revision of Part L of the Building Regulations for England and Wales, to take effect from 1 October 2010. In line with the revision to Approved Document ADL2A, SBEM and iSBEM have now been revised and updated to include additional functionality. This version – v4.0.a – is now available for demonstrating compliance with Part L 2010. The current software (version 3.5.a) is still to be used for Part L 2006 (and for EPCs until further notice). v4.0a available from http://www.2010ncm.bre.co.uk/download.jsp?id=2

Effect on EPCs:
a voluntary common European Union certification scheme for the energy performance of non-residential buildings to be adopted by 2011.
buildings offered for sale or for rent, the energy performance indicator to be stated in the advertisements in commercial media.
where the total useful floor area is over 500m² of a building for which an energy performance certificate has been issued and is frequently visited by the public, the energy performance certificate is displayed in a prominent place clearly visible to the public.
Effect on DECs:
required for buildings where a total useful floor area over 500m².
on 9 July 2015, this threshold of 500m² shall be lowered to 250m² .
